Indonesia's coal export ban on numerous miners has eased, with several now free from the sanction, but the domestic supply crisis has not been fully resolved and producers remain under pressure. Of the 34 suppliers slapped with export restrictions on 7 August, 15 are still subject to the measure, various sources in Indonesia suggest. But with stocks as low as 2.9 days of coal burn at some of Indonesian state-power provider Perusahaan Listrik Negara's (PLN) power plants in recent days, the utility is still screaming for sufficient supplies. Flows to PLN have been stifled in recent months as miners chase soaring international prices. Some industry estimates place PLN's shortfall at around 2 mt/month.
