What could be more thrilling than a group of highly experienced pilots displaying replica World War One aircraft in low-level dogfight routines, showing an avid airshow-going public how fighters were flown over the trenches of France and Belgium? Of course, while The Great War Display Team appear to mimic these chaotic sky battles, it is strictly choreographed and precisely flown. Thrilling to watch, it's executed in an extremely safe fashion - and naturally the pilots spend several days before each 'season' practising and refining their art. Remarkably, they use up to nine aircraft and combine this with synchronised ground-based pyrotechnics. The result is the awe-inspiring demonstration that's thrilled crowds since the team formed in 1988.
