摘要

The objective of this research is to investigate the effect of boron, nickel and molybdenum on the microstructure, mechanical behavior and wear properties of FeAl alloy elaborated by the induction melting procedure. The morphologies were characterized by scanning electron and optical microscopy. The determination of the various phases appearing through the manufacturing process was carried out by X-ray diffraction. Differential thermal calorimetric technique was used to determine the different phase transformations during heating. The measurement of the wear resistance was made by a pin on disc machine. The results indicate that molybdenum makes the ordered B2 phase stable by raising the critical temperature. However, when the nickel, molybdenum and boron are added to FeAl, the wear resistance increases, forms a hard phase Mo3Al which reduces the wear rate of the Fe-40Al alloy.
