Japanese economic problems worsen amid political uncertainty

The Japanese economy received another blow this month as the country’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced that he will be stepping down to focus on his health. While the government has been unable to solve Japan’s main economic problems under his eight year rule, including persistent deflation and low GDP growth, he did provide the country with the sense of political stability—as before 2012 Japan saw six PMs in six years.
