摘要

This special issue includes thirteen extended, reviewed and revised papers originally presented at the Tenth International Conference on Computational Structures Technology (CST2010) and at the Seventh International Conference on Engineering Computational Technology (ECT2010) held concurrently at the Universitat Politecnica de Valencia, Spain, 14-17 September 2010. Christian Ergenzinger was awarded the ECT2010 - Young Researcher Best Paper Prize for the first paper in this special issue entitled: "A discrete element model predicting the strength of ballast stones".
