Active travel is a key way to reduce carbon emissions and local air pollution in primary care (Greener Practice, 2023). While working in general practice or on your GP placement, you may have an opportunity to commute to the practice by bike and/or cycle to home visits. During my GPST3 year, I have typically cycled twice a week and have gained from the regular exercise and spending less money on fuel. I have also found cycling to be a great way to get some fresh air and let off steam. I hope these top tips will provide practical advice and give confidence to those thinking about cycling during their time in general practice.
