North American automotive production is expected to rise to 15.57mn vehicles in 2023, according to AutoForecast Solutions' latest forecast. The 6 April forecast for the year is 90,000 vehicles higher than the company's previous 2023 projection. The forecast is also 8.9pc higher than the 14.3mn vehicles AutoForecast estimates were built in 2022. The company expects the North American auto industry will lose the production of 206,000 vehicles in 2023 as automakers continue to deal with parts shortages, with an additional 200,000 vehicles at risk. Since 2021 the production of 3.49mn vehicles are estimated to have been lost in North America because of semiconductor and parts shortages.
