Total exports in the first half of 2015 were 496,000t, up 31pc on the prior-year period according to the latest data by GTIS. Around 92pc of that went to China, contributing 457,000t between January and June. The number grew by 34pc on January-June 2014. One possible reason is that South Korea lifted refinery operating rates in response to high Asia-Pacific demand during the said period.
