摘要

The desire to fully utilize rice husk to reduce environmental pollution leads to the search for tribological additives that can increase the high-temperature durability of frictional materials. A carbon/silica (CS) and Cu-coated CS composite particles (Cu-CS) were prepared as additives in an iron-based metal matrix composites (MMCs). Tribological tests were conducted on MMCs containing CS and Cu-CS particles at the room temperature and 800 degrees C. Friction and wear resistance was significantly reduced at 800 degrees C. The optimal concentration was shown to be 5 wt% of Cu-CS particles leading to wear rate reduction of 77.8%. The tribological mechanisms driving these improvements in adhesive material transfer catalysed by Cu particles exfoliated, leading to the formation of durable transfer films.
