European longs prices decline as costs and demand fall

European long steel prices have declined this month, with falls of up to €145 /t across countries and products. Steelmakers are feeling the pressure from a sharp drop in end-user buying activity, and the decline in scrap prices last month has removed a substantial amount of cost support. Not all steelmakers have lowered their offers however - as German prices have remained comparatively stable m/m.
