Chinese activity picked up this week as buyers placed restocking orders ahead of the Labor Day holiday from 1-5 May, supported by domestic prices, which are up across the steel and raw materials complex. The firmer domestic prices for coking coal, iron ore and steel nudged up seaborne coking coal prices with nine metallurgical coal deals concluded in the Chinese market this week for a range of qualities.
