MEDITERRANEAN-focused independent Energean has made a key gas discovery offshore Israel, called Athena, which has opened up a potential 2 trillion cubic feet gas play that could become a new . development hub. The London-listed player is set to bring on stream its Energean Power floating production, storage and offloading vessel in Israel later this year which will exploit gas and liquids resources in its deep-water Karish and Karish North fields, with Athena being the first well in a potential five-probe campaign that aims to find fresh gas for export to Israel or the wider region.
