The United States Navy's fuel storage and distribution systems provide support to joint forces operating around the world. Distributed maritime operations and expeditionary advanced base operations are key operational concepts dictating the future of maritime operations in highly contested waters in the Pacific Ocean and other parts of the globe. New and innovative means for supporting maritime operations, especially fuel for aircraft and ships, are needed to enable our forces to fight and win. Any disruption in the capability to deliver fuel and energy across different environments to ships, aircraft, vehicles, and equipment poses an increasing risk to sustaining mission and warfighting capabilities.
