Term utilisation is calculated by dividing the number of vessels employed on term contract by fleet size (excluding newbuilds). Total utilisation is calculated by dividing the number of vessels employed on both term and spot by fleet size (excluding newbuilds). Term demand refers to vessels working on contracts with duration of 30 days or more. Total supply includes all vessels on term contract, trading the spot market, laid up or under construction. The numbers used are an average of a weekly spot check of the market throughout the month with the exception of term and marketed utilisation. These are the average of actual figures taken from MarineBase and may therefore differ slightly from the weekly spot check due to rounding.
