The number of rigs drilling for oil in North America increased for the fi rst time in fi ve weeks, with tight oil plays in Texas and North Dakota leading the way, data from energy services fi rm Baker Hughes said Thursday. The oil-rig count rose by two this week to hit 622, the latest numbers showed. The closely watched report was released a day early on Thursday, ahead of the upcoming Christmas holiday weekend.
