EQUINOR will use Altera Infrastructure's Petrojarl Knarr floating production, storage and offloading vessel to develop its Rosebank oil and gas discovery in the UK West of Shetland region after signing a key contract with the Norwegian floating production contractor. "We can confirm that we, on behalf of the Rosebank partners, have signed a FEED agreement for redeployment of Petrojarl Knarr with Altera," an Equinor spokesman told Upstream on Wednesday. Multiple sources also told Upstream that Altera is days away from awarding Aker Solutions a contract to perform the front-end engineering and design aspects of the contract. Aker Solutions has already carried out pre-FEED work for the project, and Upstream has previously reported that the Petrojarl Knarr FPSO, which was built at Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea in 2014, was Equi-nor's preferred alternative for Rosebank. Altera told Upstream it was "pleased to be part of this project". "The Rosebank field with its harsh environment is a good fit for the asset and we look forward to working closely with Equinor through FEED-phase towards final investment decision to ensure a potential redeployment of the Petrojarl Knarr with sustainable, low-emission solutions," a spokesperson said.
