Councillors at Suffolk County Council have refused permission for an increase in HGV numbers at Hadleigh quarry, despite an officer recommending that the proposal should be approved. Permission for sand and gravel extraction followed by infilling with inert waste was granted in 1951. The current application sought to increase the permitted number of HGV movements from 1,000 a year (an average of four per day) to 15,000 per year (60 per day).
