There has been a lot of time since last year's COP26 meeting in Glasgow to reflect on the opportunities and challenges for polyurethane in the coming months and years. The future will certainly involve some changes.First, the positives.Rigid polyurethane is an excellent raw material for thermal insulation. Its price-to-performance ratio is very good, and can only be beaten in practice by fragile vacuum panels, and hard-to-process and brittle aerogels. On the other side of the coin is its recyclability. This is not just a question of the environment:it imperils the PU industry's licence to operate.
