Natural history and ecology of tiger beetles (Coleoptera) and ant lions (Neuroptera) in Tottori Sand Dunes, Tottori City, were briefly reviewed. They show habitat segregation (tiger beetle larvae and ant lions) or size differentiation (adult tiger beetles) that can be interpreted as results of interspecific competition. The number of a tiger beetle species, Cylindera elisae, has been significantly decreased at the "Oasis” site in the dunes. The boundary between ranges of two ant-lion species, Myrmeleon bore and M. solers has been moved ca. 500 m toward south since 1990 due to intensive progress of weeding activities from mid 1990s.
