The Mexican government has rejected escalated demands from the US to modify its ongoing phase out of genetically modified corn (maize) uses. The response follows the government formally receiving a US Trade Representative request for a dispute settlement panel to be established resolve the differences between the national governments over Mexico’s decree ordering the phase out of GM maize uses. A dispute panel request follows escalation of an unresolved dispute between United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA – successor trade deal to NAFTA) partners.
