The taxonomy of theTrifolium eriocephalumNutt. complex is reviewed.Trifolium arcuatumPiper and its varietycusickiiPiper are transferred to the subspecific level, and two new subspecies,cascadenseandmartiniiare described. The namearcuatumis restored overpiperiemployed by Martin. The species, in the broad sense, has been found to be consistently diploid,n = 8. The distribution of individual morphological characters frequently cuts across subspecific lines indicating closeness of relationship. Keys to subspecies, synonymy, distributional records and maps, and chromosome numbers are presented.
