Poland's PGNIG said it has fi led a counterclaim against Russia's Gazprom over a gas price revision.The Polish company submitted a response to Gazprom's recent notice of arbitration,as well as a separate arbitration counterclaim,seeking to retroactively reduce the price under their long-term contract effective from Nov.1,2017 and Nov.1,2020.Gazprom fi led its arbitration claim last month seeking to retroactively raise the contract price for the same periods.The contract signed back in 1996 and expiring this year,allows both parties to ask for price revisions every three years.Before going to court,both sides had submitted their mutual price revision requests but negotiations failed to produce an agreement.PGNIG modifi ed its latter request,for a November 2020 price revision,in October 2021 to refl ect the gas price rally under way in Europe at that time.
