The UK government has pledged £20 billion ($24 billion) in public funds over 20 years to support the development of carbon capturestorage and utilization (CCUS) in the country. In 2021 the government designated two CCUS projects-Hynet on the West Coast and the East Coast Cluster-as preferred or"track one" projects, putting them at the front of the queue for government funding.
