China takes on the dual energy challenge

Chinese oil companies are facing a dual mission to increase exploration and production while also delivering on the country's low-carbon commitments. The challenge is finding a balance between the two responsibilities. In late January, Chinese President Xi Jinping admitted the energy transition is no easy task, and called on the country to keep in mind the big picture of meeting its carbon peaking and neutrality targets in 2030 and 2060, respectively.
