While the UH-1Y Venom is a fixture in the Marine Corps, its capabilities are evolving. Joe Copalman reports on this impact this has on training of the next generation of Weapons and Tactics Instructors. SINCE FIRST ENTERING Marine Corps service in February 1964, the Bell UH-1 Huey has been the service's multi-role utility helicopter, capable of hauling Marines to and from landing zones, providing aerial fire support, serving as a command-and-control or Forward Air Controller (Airborne), or FAC(A) platform, extracting wounded troops to field hospitals and transporting gear and equipment.
