Vaginal agenesis is a rare anomaly that may result from a variety of different underlying diagnoses.The most important aspects of the surgical management of this condition are: correct diagnosis of both the underlying abnormality and its anatomy, documentation of any associated renal or skeletal anomalies, and proper psychological preparation of the young woman for any anticipated corrective surgery. Over the years, there have been many different techniques devised in an attempt to provide these women with a functioning vagina that approximates normal anatomy.
