Low protein broiler feeds

In Pakistan, typical broiler feeds contain 2,700 kcal/kg ME and 19-20% CP in the Starter, and 2,750 kcal/kg ME and 18% CP in the Finisher. Broiler chickens suffer severe heat stress in the summer time. In addition, soybean meal is expensive. Therefore, reducing CP would reduce heat stress and feed cost. But how low can dietary CP go in practical broiler diets without affecting live performance? To answer this question, a total of five broiler trials were conducted, two in the Starter period and three in the Finisher period.
