Deanna Saylor is an assistant professor of neurology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (Baltimore, MD, USA). She spends most of theyear in Lusaka, Zambia, where she launched, and currently leads, thefirst-ever inpatient neurology service and neurology post-graduate training programme atthe University Teaching Hospital. She researches neurological complications of HIV infection and methods to optimise the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders in resource-limited settings. What has been the greatest achievement of your career? In September 2020, the first-ever group of Zambian neurologists graduated from ourtraining programme in Zambia. I could not be prouder of the physicians, clinicians, and researchers they have become, and I am so hopeful about the future of neurology in Zambia because of them.
