S.S.T.-Schuttguttechnik Maschi-nenbau GmbH Landsberg, sister company of system-technik GmbH, recently supplied the largest vibrating bin discharger ever built. The "Extra-Vib" vibrating bin discharger is vibrated horizontally by means of a vib-rating motor (two motors are used for large-size dischargers). These vibrations are transmitted to the particles, accelerating them so that they collide and separate. This enables the bulk solids to flow more easily. Providing the silo has been designed correctly, a mass flow is generated, without dead zones but with uniform material movement over the entire cross-section of the silo, which is a precondition for discharge of the material without segregation. Even difficult, cohesive bulk solids can be reliably discharged. Thanks to the special shape, destruction of the particles is avoided, abrasion and wear are minimized. In the case of hygroscopic products that tend to form agglomerates, lumps or crusts, an integrated vibrating grid is used to break up the agglomerates and comminute lumps and crusts to a size that no longer impairs the function of the downstream machines.
