The White House May 10 outlined its priorities for speeding energy infrastructure permitting, putting a heavy focus on clearing bottlenecks for electric transmission and voicing optimism about prospects for a bipartisan deal originating in the US Senate. White House Senior Adviser John Podesta told the Bipartisan Policy Center that a big remaining hurdle on the way to achieving the president’s climate targets is a permitting process for clean energy infrastructure that is "plagued by delays and bottlenecks" at every level of government.
