Substance P-like immunoreactive (SPLI) nerve fibers were demonstrated in the Krause corpuscles of the dog’s tongue using the indirect immunofluorescence method and cholinesterase histochemistry. SPLI nerve fibers were often in contact with Krause end bulbs and occasionally entered them.
