摘要

Transgender and gender nonconforming (TGNC) people encounter health disparities in the United States, perpetuated by limited TGNC-related content in medical education and training. Recognition of the effects of discrimination and stigma on TGNC communities has contributed to a resurgence of interest in these populations. Exploring the diversity of TGNC identities and recognizing patterns of institutionalized bias enable health care providers, including psychiatrists and other mental health practitioners, to promote health equity for these historically underserved populations.
