Micro-wave ovens are being used by homeowners to dry flowers, because flowers dry faster, lookfresherand keep their natural colors better than conventionally dried flowers. A Home Economist writes to tell us that non-food uses of microwave (such as drying flowers) would cause the manufacturers to void the warranty on the appliance. To see if this is true, we wrote to four of the leading manufacturers of microwave ovens. They all sent us leaflets showing us how to dry flowers in these appliances. In the light of the information sent by these manufacturers, we'll continue to use microwave ovens for drying flowers. After all, companies send out information telling how to do it. The only precaution is to remove wires from the stems.
