Wind, utility solar and battery storage power capacity added 28.5 GW across the US in 2021 to surpass 200 GW total in clean energy capacity, even as installations were flat on the year due to several policy headwinds, the American Clean Power Association announced May 17. However, 10 GW of projects were delayed in 2021 due to policy uncertainty, supply chain and interconnection issues, according to ACP’s Clean Power Annual Market Report 2021. “There’s a lot to celebrate here, but let’s not deceive ourselves,” John Hensley, ACP vice president of research and analytics, said May 17 during the CLEANPOWER 2022 conference.
