Miss Moses Lake, says the name on the nose, with ICE 74 below, Nairobi 75 beneath that, and then a curious depiction of a clockwork tangerine. A little further to the rear, another artwork is headed MAINEiacs, while under the cockpit is the legend Mach 2.23. Hardly common Concorde features, these - but this is no common Concorde, if there ever was such a thing. Each of the prototype, pre-production and development aircraft made a particular contribution to the story of the Anglo-French supersonic airliner. The hand-painted details which adorn Concorde 101, registered G-AXDN, chronicle its most important exploits. This aeroplane pushed the boundaries. It flew faster than any other Concorde, and it did so during a test effort that ironed out some of the problems inevitably found in the first two prototypes. Viewed in the round, it took the design several steps closer to production.
