The Health and Safety North event takes place in the dedicated show space behind the spectator stands at the Bolton Arena on 7 and 8 October, with its familiar mix of free educational seminars and sales stands to attract safety professionals from all points north. This year's conference is programmed by the British Safety Council and officially endorsed by the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management. It opens on the Wednesday with a presentation by Kate Haire, head of the HSE's Local Authority Unit. Haire's presentation, titled HSE at 40 and Beyond, will review the executive's work in the decades since its establishment by the Health and Safety at Work Act and changes in the regulatory framework. She also promises insights into what the future might bring for the regulator and safety law.
