Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction in a 76-year-old patient

An active 76-year-old patient sustained anterior cruciate ligament injury following a skiing accident. His symptoms of knee instability failed to improve after a fair trial of conservative treatment of over 6 month duration. We performed surgical reconstruction of anterior cruciate ligament in this patient and report the results after 18 months of follow up with excellent results. We believe this to be the second case reported in the literature in this age group.
