PREVIEWS of the £23m stage musical of Tolkein's 'Lord of the Rings' came to an abrupt halt at the start of its London run at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane earlier this year after an actor was stretchered off, having caught his leg in the stage machinery. On the opening night, part of the stage jammed and the sound cut out on a character in mid-battle cry.
