Petronas Eyes Strengthening of 'Financial Buffers'

Petronas CEO Tengku Taufi k says Malaysia's national oil company is considering a further strengthening of its "fi nancial buffers" inresponse to a growing reluctance among fi nancial institutions to fund oil and gas activity. Addressing reporters as Petronas presented its mid-year earnings report, Taufi k said that if banks will only provide fi nancing based onstrict net-zero emissions criteria, the company will have to use its own "dry powder" to fund projects.
