Chinese energy companies last year secured more liquefied natural gas supplies through long-term sale and purchase agreements with international suppliers, despite trade friction with those in the US. Over the year, Chinese buyers, especially those involved in town gas distribution, signed contracts with five international suppliers including BP, Global Venture and Petronas to commit to purchases of more than 10 million tonnes of LNG over a period of up to 10 years.
