Originally opened in 1907, Laxtons mill is afamily-run business owned by James Laxton. In2009, Laxton moved the company’s manufacturingout of Europe and back to the UK. He says: “I decided thatwe could do a better job. I had the experience and we’dgrown in terms of people.“But when I spoke to others, most of them thought I wascrazy. They’d say, ‘What on earth are you doing puttingmoney into manufacturing when people are still movingout the UK?’. However, I maintained that we could do a betterjob ourselves.”
