With 2022 in the rear-view mirror, the pace of recovery within the industry continues unabated. The Asia-Pacific region, on the other hand, continues to lag behind the rest of the world thanks in large part to the situation in China. Despite the fact that the country opened its borders to free-flowing inbound travel at the start of the year, the pace of recovery is proving to be somewhat slow. Rows of wide-body aircraft remained idle, adorned with grimy rainwater streaks accumulated from long periods of inactivity. An indication, if any was needed, that the recovery of Chinese carriers was not the initial sprint that some may have hoped for.
