Following a three-year restoration programme, the Imperial War Museums' Yokosuka Ohka-11 rocket-powered kamikaze attack aircraft was revealed to the public on 10 March, after being suspended in the atrium at the IWM's premises in Lambeth, south London. One of three Ohkas delivered to RAE Farnborough for evaluation in late 1945, this example was subsequently based at several military establishments before ending up at the Defence Explosive Ordnance Disposal School at Lodge Hill Camp at Chattenden near Chatham, Kent, where Japanese aviation expert and technical artist Joe Picarella became the first civilian to survey the aircraft during 2006. With the planned relocation of the school in 2011, the Ohka was declared surplus to requirements, gifted to the IWM and moved to Duxford. It remained in storage until January 2017, when restoration began under the leadership of IWM senior conservator Andy Robinson.
