Recent protests in Iran appear to have spread to its oil industry in recent days, with reports emerging of strikes at reoneries and petrochemical plants. The protests were triggered by the death in police custody last month of a young Kurdish woman. According to social media posts, workers protested and chanted anti-government slogans at petrochemical plants at Assaluyeh in southern Iran, which is home to some of the country's largest oil, gas and petrochemical facilities.
