The New York Independent System Operator is moving to the thirdphase of its load forecast uncertainty analysis, which will focus onthe projected trend toward a winter peaking power system due toincreasing penetration of electric vehicles and electric heating.Load forecast uncertainty models quantify the impact of extremeweather variability on seasonal peak loads, according to a draftpresentation by Max Schuler from the NYISO’s demand forecasting andanalysis division posted on the grid operator’s website May 23. Thepresentation is scheduled to be given at a May 26 Load ForecastingTask Force meeting.
