Oil futures clawed back lost ground on Tuesday, with global benchmark Brent closing just short of the $80 per barrel mark. In London, Brent crude for September delivery settled $1.13 higher at $79.63/bbl. In New York, August West Texas Intermediate(WTI) closed up $1.60 at $75.75/bbl on thin volumes ahead of Thursday's expiry, while the more heavily traded September contractrose by $1.58 to end the session at $75.66/bbl.
