German seed company KWS Saat(Einbeck)has partnered with US agricultural technology start-up Aigen(Seattle,Washington)for the development of artificial intelligence(AI)-driven robotic weed elimination solutions.The parties are to evaluate the performance of the latter’s on-farm robotic fleet in undertaking autonomous weed identification and removal operations in sugar beet fields.The project is to be carried out at the US North Dakota State University’s(Fargo)Agronomy Seed Farm,with the partners noting that the exercise would enable them to refine the AI models for use in sugar beet plantations.
