Air quality in the United States has improved dramatically in the last three decades in spite of considerable economic growth. However, there is more work to be done. Air pollution is still a widespread problem in the U.S., with over 100 million individuals in 114 different areas exposed to air-borne pollutant levels that exceed one or more health-based ambient air quality standards [1].
