A Kent car servicing company has been fined ?1 million, ten years after an exploding tyre killed a 21 year old worker who was sent off site without basic equipment. On 27 January 2006, Matthew Hoare, who had worked for Watling Tyres for around six months, was dispatched on his own to repair a slow puncture on the tyre of a "loading shovel" at a brickworks near Sandwich, Kent.
