This report describes test methods for measuring the performance of ultrasonic colour flow imaging systems and colour flow imaging test objects for determining various performance properties of colour flow ultrasonic systems. The test objects (Phamtoms) have been proposed for measuring the following parameters of the systems. · dead zone boundary; · penetration depth; ·spatial resolution; ·image uniformity; · tissue colour suppression performance; ·lowest detectable observed velocity; · highest detectable observed velocity; · temporal resolution. The phantoms consist of the materials, which mimic the ultrasonic properties of tissues. The material properties used are described.
